About FreightClassCheck
FreightClassCheck is a small set of free calculators for people who ship LTL freight: small manufacturers, online sellers sending pallets to a warehouse, and anyone booking a shipment who wants to know the freight class before the carrier tells them.
How we work
- Every rule and number comes from a source you can open: NMFTA's own documents, carriers' rules tariffs and pallet makers' specifications. The sources are listed on each page and below.
- The calculators run in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.
- When the NMFC or a carrier changes a rule, we update the table behind the calculators and the date on the page.
What the calculators do not know
The class you are billed depends on your commodity's NMFC item, your carrier's tariff and their measurements at the dock. NMFC item descriptions are published by NMFTA and are not reproduced here. Use the results to plan and to check a quote, and confirm with your carrier or broker before you book.
FreightClassCheck is not affiliated with NMFTA or with any carrier, broker or pallet company named on this site.
